Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 8cx accelerated version

Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 8cx Gen2, a slightly accelerated Version of the Snapdragon 8cx. The system-on-a-Chip is intended for Laptops with Windows 10 on ARM, whereby Qualcomm already at the start of the processor can have more partners for devices than the predecessor.

Qualcomm did not provide exact technical details on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen2. However, the manufacturer confirmed that the SoC is manufactured in the same process – 7LPP from Samsung-and basically the same architecture is used. Qualcomm did not show a direct comparison of Gen1 and Gen2, which is why it is conceivable that the clock rates were primarily optimized.

Not surprisingly, Qualcomm chose Intel’s Core i5-L16g7 alias Lakefield (Test) as a direct opponent of the Snapdragon 8cx Gen2. According to manufacturer Benchmarks, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen2 should be 51 percent faster, which is easy to explain: the PCMark10 Applications were measured with Office 365 and the 3DMark Night Raid, whereas the Snapdragon 8cx Gen2 is significantly faster in the latter Test thanks to the significantly better GPU.

In addition to the Snapdragon 8cx Gen2, Qualcomm has announced its intention to release an affordable Snapdragon 400 series Chip with a 5G Modem in the coming months. So far, the Snapdragon 865 with optional dedicated 5G Baseband, the Snapdragon 765G/768G with built-in 5G wireless and the Snapdragon 690, also with built in 5G Modem
