With up to 20 hours of running time: Apple is said to bring back its 12-inch Macbook

Apple’s first Mac with the in-house processor will probably be the new edition of an old acquaintance: the 12-inch Macbook should celebrate its Revival with Apple Silicon and up to 20 hours of running time.

Apple Silicon: does the Macbook 12 come with A14x Chip?

As the China Times has learned from suppliers, Apple is expected to launch a Macbook with a 12-inch Retina Display and a self-developed A14x processor (codenamed “Tonga”) at the end of this year. It will probably only have a USB Type-C interface on board and weigh less than a kilogram. Since the ARM-based Chip has a low power consumption, the battery of the MacBook should last between 15 and 20 hours. The A14x processor will also be used in the next generation of iPad Pro.

Further equipment details the China Times owes us, however, it was said in June that Apple could equip the Macbook with a 5G Modem. However, this equipment detail is not considered safe.

First Macbook with Apple Silicon should cost around 850 dollars

The leaker Komiya wants to have reached further specifications. Parts of its stated equipment details, such as the runtime, weight and the only USB port, coincide with the specifications of the China Times. According to his information, it is said to have a Butterfly Keyboard of the fourth Generation and eight respectively 16 Gigabyte RAM and 256 Gigabyte to one Terabyte SSD memory installed. The price should start from 849 US dollars.

While most of the Details sound plausible, we are irritated by the now defunct Butterfly keyboard, which Apple has replaced with more reliable Scissor Keyboards since 2019. However, Apple may have remnants of its 2019 removed from the program 12-inch stockpile, which are now used for the first ARM Mac. This should mean that the first Apple Silicon Mac could not differ externally from the old model.

While the rumours of a 12-inch Macbook with Apple Silicon are making the rounds in various circles, renowned Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is more likely to start from the introduction of other products: he predicts that Apple could introduce a 13.3-inch Macbook Pro with its in-house A14 processor towards the end of the year. Kuo also speaks of an ARM iMac in a new Design. Later, a Macbook Air and a Macbook Pro with 14-inch Mini LED Display are also expected. The accurate Kuo has not lost a syllable over a 12-inch Macbook.
