Take screenshot on mac

On Windows PCs and Notebooks, a tap on the “print” button is enough and a photo of the screen content is already in the clipboard. But how does that actually work on Apple’s Mac or MacBooks? There are several key combinations.

Mac users have six ways to take the screen content as a Screenshot:

CMD + SHIFT + 3: use this key combination to record the entire screen content as a Screenshot and save it as a file.

CMD + CTRL + SHIFT + 3: this will also record the entire screen. Difference: the Mac does not save it to a file, but to the clipboard. Open a new document in Word or a new file in Photoshop, simply insert the Screenshot using the Ctrl + V.

CMD + SHIFT + 4: when you press this key combination, you can select the area on the screen that you want to save to a file before taking the screenshot.

CMD + Ctrl + SHIFT + 4: this key combination also allows you to select the image area you want to save to a file before taking the screenshot. Difference: the Mac does not save it to a file, but to the clipboard.

CMD + SHIFT + 4, then space: to take a Screenshot of a selected program window. A small camera icon appears on the Display. If you move it over the selected window, the Mac will color it blue.

CMD + Ctrl + SHIFT + 4, then space: to also take a Screenshot of a selected program window. Difference: the Mac does not save it to a file, but to the clipboard.
